Switching to Plant-Based Skincare: A Guide for Estheticians
Now that we’ve busted a few myths about plant based skincare, there’s a few things I want to share to get you ready and excited about what’s ahead.
Here are some things to know as you’re pivoting your practice…
“Adult learning takes repetition.”
This is a phrase I distinctly remember our founder, Justine, saying in my back bar training. It gave me a huge sense of relief to know I didn’t need to know everything I was learning about my new back bar, and that I could come back to this information.
As a partner, continuing your education and training is something I highly recommend doing. When you switch from conventional skincare to holistic, plant based skincare, this is especially important. There’s so much to know about these plants, as there is to know about skin, and the learning never stops. That’s the best part.
If you’re looking for the perfect place to start before bringing Botnia to your practice, we’ve designed a course specifically for you called Intro to Holistic Esthetics. It’s a day-long course held every quarter that will prepare you for laying the foundation of your holistic practice. You’ll learn what it means to be a holistic esthetician, modalities and techniques for long-term skin health, plant physiology and Botnia key ingredients, how to perform a holistic facial, and so much more.
Setting expectations sets everyone up for success.
As estheticians, we know caring for our guests’ skin is a case-by-case basis. The beauty of what we get to do is that everyone’s story and journey is unique, and we can honor that with the treatments we provide. Share this blog with them, share your own experience using Botnia, and help guests get excited about being surrounded and supported with plants that are grown with so much care and integrity.
When switching anything in your practice, it’s important to talk about why you’re making changes and sharing what this means for your guests. Think about your own journey and what brought you here. Your guests will likely have similar experiences, and showing them the results you can get with simple, gentle but effective skincare can help build trust and excitement.
Think about how to phase out of your current inventory.
Consider how you’ll support your guests’ skin when phasing out your lines to get them ready for their new plant friends. Ask them what they’re excited about and what they’re looking forward to so that you can have your shelves stocked with what everyone will need.
You’ll be supported in every part of your practice.
When you partner with Botnia, not only will you be able to heal more skin, you’ll be doing so with a community of like-minded, passionate practitioners. With a partnership, you’ll also get in-depth training and continued education, plenty of resources, access to live education, support from our team and your Botnia peers, one-on-one support with me, and the best skincare you could dream of.
The next step in your plant-based journey.
It’s a huge deal to pivot anything in your practice. It can feel like taking a leap of faith bringing in a new line. It’s why I wanted to share my insights in case it’s helpful on your journey.
After using Botnia as my sole back bar for the last seven years, I can say whole heartedly that it’s all I’ve ever needed for the wide range of skin I treat. I learned this like any esthetician or skin enthusiast might, dabbling here or there out of curiosity, only to find that I’d have a collection of random products collecting dollars and dust. Not with Botnia. Yes, maybe I may have a slight bias. ;-) But in all honesty it’s because of the results I’ve seen with these plants and how it grew my practice that I’m so passionate about sharing this with you. Ultimately it means that there’s a potential to heal more skin in a healthy, sustainable way.
