This bright orange-red berry comes from a hardy shrub native to the Himalayas and can survive temperatures well below zero. Because of its rich history as a superfood and herbal medicine, this resilient herb is now grown and loved worldwide. Over the centuries, its use in herbal medicine has been well-documented, particularly in Chinese and Tibetan Medicine, to support the skin, digestive system, and immune function. 

Sea buckthorn is sour, oily, and astringent, and it's packed with antioxidants and essential fatty acids. These fatty acids are extra important as they boost the skin’s elasticity and lock in hydration. The berry is also rich in carotenoids, which promote cell turnover and regeneration. In herbalism, it's commonly used for its ability to soothe, balance, and reduce skin irritation.
